Playgroup-aged children are going through a stage of rapid brain and skill development. At playgroup children can:
develop their gross motor skills through bike riding, running, and jumping
develop verbal and non verbal communication skills through their contact with other children and adults
develop social skills, like sharing and cooperating
expand their experience and practice skills in a safe and fun social environment.
Why adults go to playgroup
Playgroup can be a lifeline to parents with young children who might not have any other opportunity to get to know local parents in similar life stages. It can provide:
friendship in a relaxed, informal setting
a sharing of resources and parenting ideas
an opportunity to meet people with similar aged children
a break from the normal daily routine
