Our mission is to be . . .

A community following Jesus and loving people.

Our Leadership

Dave Kuiper

Pastor for Missional Engagement

Dave and his wife, Darlene, moved to Alaska in 1974. After working in the construction industry for 25 years, Dave became Crosspoint's founding pastor in 1999. In 2011, he transitioned to his current role as Pastor for Missional Engagement. This gives Dave lots of flexibility to provide pastoral care and counseling for people, and to work with others in our city and state toward solutions to poverty and homelessness. Dave enjoys providing Crosspoint and other churches in our community with connections and opportunities to demonstrate God's love through service to others. In addition to their Crosspoint family, Dave and Darlene have two married adult children, their spouses, and three amazing granddaughters they love spending time with.

Glenn Lau

Glenn has been connected to Crosspoint for the past few years. Though born in Hong Kong, he has lived in Alaska since his elementary school years.  Glenn left for a short period during college in Colorado, but returned to Alaska to work at BP. He enjoys hiking, volunteering at his daughter’s school, traveling, and spending time with his family.  Glenn also is a true foodie.

Carol Laurion

Carol was part of the group that established Crosspoint Community Church several years ago.  She is married and has three grown children and her first grandchild is soon to arrive.  In addition to being a part of the community at Crosspoint, she is a Real Estate Agent and a Real Estate Investor.  Carol also offers management and administrative support to her family's financial services business.  A long time Alaskan, originally from California, she loves nature and enjoys hiking, biking, fishing, and is an avid international traveler.

Kara Van Kooten

Kara has lived in Anchorage since 1985 and has attended Crosspoint Community Church for the past 9 years. Kara is an active volunteer with the music team and is currently serving the third and final year of her term as elder. In her free time, she enjoys hiking, biking, reading, and traveling with her friends and family.

Isaac Watkins

Isaac has always been in awe of God's awesome creation, and his passion is to nourish the connection between God's people and the natural environment he has provided. He enjoys helping people come to a deeper understanding of the natural world and how humans are not apart from it, but rather a part of it in a very integral way. Isaac lives into this passion as an environmental scientist specializing in water quality and hydrology; he also serves on the Anchorage Waterways Council Board. Isaac volunteers at Crosspoint as frequently as possible—including Mobile Food Pantry and for odd tasks as they arise—and currently serves as a deacon. Isaac and and his wife Valerie have three beautifully unique children: Atticus "Ati" Autrey, Orion "Ori" Taj Kadis, and Gavia "Gia" Gertrude.

Kay Alley

Being part of the original founding group of Crosspoint has been one of the most faith-inspiring adventures of Kay’s life. Over the last 15 years, her involvement has centered on prayer, assisting leaders, and teaching in Kidspoint. After a long hiatus of minimal involvement because of her teaching career with Family Partnership Charter School, she is now glad to be serving as an elder. Kay’s family moved to Alaska when she was a child, so she has lived here for years and years.  She and her husband enjoy family activities with their children and grandchildren. In the summer, she loves to garden and sit in the sun reading.

Greg Bierma

Greg has been connected to Crosspoint since the very beginning—when it was still just a weekly Bible study group and before it even had a name! Currently, in addition to being a deacon, he is a vocalist on the music team and is also one of the audio engineers. Though Greg mostly grew up in Colorado, he’s called Alaska home since 1998. Greg is an electrician with the IBEW and enjoys volleyball, paragliding, motorcycling, hiking, biking, road tripping, and traveling.

Kristen Bierma

As one of the founding members of Crosspoint, Kristen has served in various capacities over the years, including Kidspoint Coordinator, KidsCamp Director, worship leader, and most currently as elder. She is passionate about serving and engaging people in ways that point them to Christ's hope and grace. With a background in counseling and assessment, she currently works part-time with Safe Families for Children and as an adoption home study writer for Catholic Social Services. Kristen has called Anchorage home since 1994 when she followed her husband Doug here from Michigan. Life is full of adventure (and driving) with their three children: Josh, Anna, and Aleya.

Tiffany Dennis

Administrative Assistant

Tiffany has been a member of Crosspoint for ten years. Currently, in addition to being on staff, she can be found teaching in Kidspoint and greeting people as a part of the Welcome Team.. Tiffany mostly grew up in Colorado. She moved to Anchorage in 1990 and has called Alaska home ever since. Tiffany enjoys teaching, cooking, acting in local community theatre productions, and being the mother of four wonderful adult children.

Joel Kiekintveld

Teaching Pastor

Joel is Crosspoint Community Church’s Teaching Pastor, the Founding Director at Parachute Ministries, and the Anchorage Hub Director for Street Psalms' Urban Training Collaborative.  He is passionate about teaching, whether that is sharing a sermon on Sunday, having a conversation with a teen, instructing a class, or through writing.

Joel is currently a PhD candidate in Practical Theology at the University of Pretoria (South Africa), and holds a Master of Arts in Global Urban Ministry from Bakke Graduate University and a Bachelor of Religious Education from Reformed Bible College (now Kuyper College). He was ordained as a Commissioned Pastor by the Christian Reformed Church in 2008.
